Privacy & Cookies

This page explains what happens to your information when you visit Philing Alive or join the newsletter.
Who is responsible
First LLC operates Philing Alive at iphilalive.com and is the data controller for personal information collected through this website. Its address is 447 Broadway Suite #3148, New York, 10013, United States. For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, or to leave the mailing list, email privacy@iphilalive.com. Please identify the email address concerned so the request can be verified.
Running the website
The hosting and delivery services, OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, browser information and requested URLs to deliver pages, maintain security and diagnose failures. This supports the legitimate interest in operating a reliable, secure website.
Books and travel content are managed in Notion. Most images are served from this website’s cache; a newly added or fallback image may load from Notion’s storage or its original image provider. That provider receives the technical information needed to deliver the image. Fonts are hosted on this website.
Optional analytics
Google Analytics 4 measures visits, traffic sources, device/browser information and how pages are used. Google receives technical information, including the IP address needed to communicate with its servers, and may use pseudonymous browser identifiers. We do not intentionally send newsletter addresses or names to Analytics. This site disables Google signals and advertising personalisation in its tag configuration and does not grant advertising consent. See Google’s Privacy Policy and data-retention information.
Microsoft Clarity records interactions such as clicks, scrolling, page layout, device/browser information and performance. Heatmaps and session replays help identify confusing or broken parts of the website. Without cookie consent, Clarity uses a limited mode in which each page view is treated as a separate session. If you enable its cookies, it can connect interactions across pages and returning visits. Input contents are masked, and the newsletter panel is explicitly masked. We do not supply your email as a Clarity user identifier. Microsoft also processes this information as described in its Privacy Statement.
On Home, Travel and Library, both tags start automatically in their limited, cookie-free modes unless you have opted out. Visiting a page is not recorded as consent: analytics and advertising storage are denied by default. Limited measurements still transmit technical information to the providers; cookie-free does not mean no data is sent. These measurements help us understand traffic and improve the website. Cookie-based measurement requires your choice in the preferences below. You can stop both services there, and a Global Privacy Control signal keeps both off. Neither service runs on the private subscriber administration area or this privacy page. Your choice does not affect subscriptions or other site features.
Clarity normally retains replay data for 30 days and heatmaps, click data, and labelled or favourited sessions for nine months. Google Analytics event-level retention depends on the property’s retention setting, commonly two or fourteen months; aggregate reports can remain longer. These vendor retention periods differ from the lifetime of browser cookies.
Cookies and browser storage
Cookies are small browser files; local storage and session storage serve similar purposes. The site uses the following categories:
- Privacy preferences — necessary
- Your yes/no choices and their date are saved in local storage under
philing-alive:privacy:v1for 180 days. No email address is stored there. After expiry, optional analytics stay off until you choose again. - Website session — necessary
- Session storage remembers that you subscribed in the current tab and caches public book/travel content to avoid repeated downloads. The subscription marker contains no email. These entries normally disappear when the tab session ends. Private administration access may require the hosting provider’s authentication storage.
- Google Analytics — optional cookies
- Only after you enable Analytics cookies:
_gaand_ga_…distinguish browsers and sessions. The site configures a 180-day lifetime without renewing it on every visit; browsers may shorten it. Google cookie reference. - Microsoft Clarity — optional cookies
- Only after you enable Clarity cookies:
_clckremembers a browser, normally for up to one year;_clsklinks page views into a session, normally for one day. Microsoft may also use its own domain cookies depending on consent and browser settings; this site sends advertising-storage consent as denied. Microsoft cookie reference.
Use the cookie preferences below to change your choice or stop optional analytics, including cookie-free measurement. The site removes its accessible Analytics and Clarity cookies and stops loading the relevant tag. Another open tab may reload to stop a tracker that was already running. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser, including cookies on Google or Microsoft domains that this website cannot remove.
Links to other services
Blog, social, WhatsApp and Amazon links take you to services with their own privacy policies. Social buttons are links, not embedded social feeds. Some book links contain an Amazon Associates referral tag; purchases through them may generate a commission. Amazon handles its own tracking after you follow a link. We do not receive your payment details from those purchases.
Sharing, international processing and your rights
Information is shared with the service providers described above as needed for those purposes. They may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Applicable safeguards and transfer arrangements are explained in their privacy notices; protection and rights can vary by jurisdiction.
Depending on the law that applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal information, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact us using the details above. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority, including the Italian Garante where applicable.
The site is intended for adults. Please do not submit sensitive personal information through the subscription field. This policy will be updated when the site’s data practices change; the date above identifies the current version.
Your analytics choices
Limited measurement without analytics cookies starts automatically on Home, Travel and Library unless you have opted out. Choose the options below to allow cookies for fuller measurement, or stop both services. Saving with an option unchecked turns that service off. The website and newsletter work either way.
